Moving in City Beach
City Beach occupies the coastal side of the western suburbs between Floreat and Wembley Downs — a suburb of large post-war homes, ocean-view sites and one of Perth's best surf beaches at the end of Challenger Parade. The housing stock is predominantly 1960s and 1970s brick-and-tile on big blocks, increasingly mixed with substantial two-storey modern rebuilds. Wide streets and large lots make truck access easy. The ocean-facing properties west of West Coast Highway have the most coveted positions but the tightest access in high summer, when beach parking fills the surrounding streets on any warm weekend. Plan a move to a West Coast Highway-adjacent address for a weekday.
Local access & logistics
Every City Beach move starts with the access, because that is what decides the truck, the crew and the timing. Here is what we plan around in City Beach:
- Large 1960s–70s brick-and-tile homes and modern two-storey rebuilds on big blocks
- Wide streets, large lots: easy access for the largest truck sizes
- West Coast Highway properties in peak summer: beach street parking is crowded on weekends
- Most blocks have verge parking and clear drive-in access to the front door
Send us the pickup and drop-off addresses with your quote and we'll tell you exactly how we'd handle your move, including parking, the carry and any lift or staircase that needs a plan.

Parking in the City of Cambridge
The City of Cambridge (Floreat, City Beach) does not issue removalist parking permits. These are predominantly 1950s–70s planned suburbs with wide streets and large blocks — truck access is among the most straightforward in Perth. Verge parking is easy on virtually every street. For properties backing onto the Perry Lakes reserve, vehicle routing to the rear of the property may require a longer drive around.
City Beach removals: common questions
Is it hard to get a truck into a City Beach property near the beach?
The streets in City Beach are wide and access is generally very easy. The exception is summer weekends when beach parking fills West Coast Highway adjacent streets — Challenger Parade area in particular gets congested on warm weekends. We recommend a mid-week start for beach-adjacent addresses from November to March.
Does City Beach require a permit for a moving truck?
No. The City of Cambridge (which covers City Beach) does not issue removalist parking permits. Trucks park on the verge under standard WA rules.
City Beach has a lot of two-storey rebuilds — do you move large modern homes?
Yes. The newer two-storey homes in City Beach are among the larger moves in the western suburbs. We size the crew and truck number to the inventory. Two trucks and three movers is typical for a large modern rebuild.
How much does a City Beach move cost?
Our online-quote rates start at $200/hour for two movers and a truck ($250 for three, $400 for a larger crew with two trucks), and you get a clear indicative quote up front for your specific move. No surprises on the day.
